BOSTON - The Phoenix Suns rely on their fast-break offence. It was Eric Bledsoes defence that keyed their latest win.Markieff Morris scored a career-high 30 points and Bledsoe had a key steal and breakaway dunk in the closing minute to lift the Suns to a 118-114 victory over the Boston Celtics on Monday night. With the score tied at 114, Bledsoe stole Avery Bradleys crosscourt pass and went in alone for a dunk, pushing the Suns ahead with 29.5 seconds to play.Hes not afraid to make that calculated gamble at the end of games, Phoenix coach Jeff Hornacek said. We sometimes live with some of his decisions on going for steals because he did it a bunch last year, too. He gets big steals at the end of games.Goran Dragic had 22 points, Alex Len scored 19 with seven rebounds and Bledsoe finished with 15 points and seven assists for the Suns, who lost their previous two games. It was big because we had two losses back-to-back, Len said.Jeff Green led Boston with 28 points, and Jared Sullinger had 18 points with eight rebounds. Rajon Rondo fell one assist shy of a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.Tyler Zeller added 19 points and seven rebounds for the Celtics, who lost their third straight despite rallying from a double-digit deficit. Were not there yet and thats frustrating, Boston coach Brad Stevens said of his teams 3-6 start.Sullinger knows that falling into a deep hole makes it hard to bounce back and beat good teams. It takes every ounce of energy to make a comeback, he said. We just have to play better. After Bledsoes dunk, Greens long 3-point attempt rimmed out and Len grabbed the rebound. He was fouled and hit both from the line to put the Suns up 118-114 with 19.8 seconds left. The lead had changed six times in a wild, up-and-down fourth quarter until Greens fast-break dunk put Boston ahead with just under a minute to go. He was fouled on the play and hit the free throw, making it 114-112 with 57.3 seconds to go.Dragic then got free for a backdoor layup, tying it at 114 with 46 seconds remaining.Boston took a 105-104 lead — its first since early in the second quarter — on Greens driving basket down the lane.Phoenix opened the third quarter by scoring 11 of the first 13 points, opening its biggest lead of the game on Marcus Morris 3-pointer from the right corner. But, just as they did in the first half, the Celtics came charging back, closing to 89-88 on Zellers fast-break dunk at the end of the quarter.___SUSPENDEDSuns forward P.J. Tucker was suspended for violating team rules and was listed as inactive for the game. Team spokeswoman Julie Fie said Tucker basically missed the plane to Boston on Sunday.Earlier this season, the NBA suspended Tucker for three games following his guilty plea to super extreme driving while intoxicated.Super extreme DUI under Arizona law is for persons whose blood alcohol level exceeds .20 per cent. Police say that just after his May 10 arrest in Scottsdale, Tucker had a blood alcohol level of .222. The legal limit in Arizona is .08.TIP-INSSuns: Hornacek would like to see his team a little more focused after producing the best turnaround in the NBA last season. We got to where we were by scratching and clawing, and playing with a little bit of a chip on our shoulders, he said before the game. Weve got to get it back. We cant go into games just thinking were going to win. Our biggest problem is consistency. Last season, the Suns were 48-34 after going 25-57 in 2012-13.Celtics: Facing a team that was leading the league in fast-break points, Stevens had his squad working on transition defence a lot during practice Sunday. You have to get back, he said before the game. Defensively, they have to beat you on offence. Boston outscored the Suns 23-21 on fast-break points.UP NEXTSuns: Play the third of a six-game road trip Wednesday at Detroit.Celtics: At Philadelphia on Wednesday. Vladimir Tarasenko Jersey .C. -- The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday theyve signed free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery to a two-year contract, helping rebuild a depleted wide receiving corps. Carter Hutton Jersey .The rookie goalie made 36 saves to help the Calgary Flames blank their Pacific Division rivals 1-0 on Saturday following a 48-hour ordeal that included lost baggage, a cancelled flight and a new pair of contact lenses. ... in-jersey/. A top pitching prospect, one who the ball club is pinning some of its future hopes, takes the spot of a veteran who once was viewed as a future ace but who, to this point, hasnt realized his potential and may never. Zach Sanford Jersey . Unfortunately for Toronto, that surge was too much to handle as the Stars scored six straight goals and ended the Marlies season with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday. Toronto had built a 2-0 lead on goals by Frazer McLaren and Peter Holland, but Texas charged back with a wild rally late in the second period to spark its trip to the Calder Cup final. Jake Allen Jersey .Voegele will next play Anna Schmiedlova of Slovakia, who saved 10 of 16 break points to defeat Annika Beck of Germany 7-6 (6), 6-4.Also, Marina Erakovic of New Zealand defeated eighth-seeded Caroline Garcia of France 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.With the NHL regular season right around the corner, profiles each team leading up to puck drop. Catch up on their summer moves and the issues they face this season, as well as Craig Buttons analysis of their top prospect and an analytical breakdown by TSNs Scott Cullen. Division: Atlantic GM: Ken Holland Head Coach: Mike Babcock 2013-14: 39-28-15 (4th in Atlantic) Playoffs: Lost in First Round Goals For: 217 (16th) Goals Against: 221 (16th) PP: 17.7% (18th) PK: 83.0% (12th) That Was Then: Detroits first taste of the Eastern Conference last season produced a mixed bag of results and ended in a battle for playoff survival. The Red Wings were decimated by injuries to stars and supporting players alike. Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk both missed 37 games, Johan Franzen missed 28, Darren Helm sat out 40 and free agent signing Stephen Weiss played in only 26 before missing the rest of the season with groin issues. The Wings were in serious danger of having their streak of 22 consecutive playoff appearances end. But head coach Mike Babcock was still able to lead his remaining players to 93 points and the second wild card playoff berth in the East. Detroit was easily eliminated by the East-leading Bruins in the first round, as Boston held the Red Wings to just six goals and ousted them in five games. In the absence of its biggest stars, the club was led in regular season points by Daniel Alfredsson and Niklas Kronwall. Jimmy Howard played the majority of games in net and went 21-19-11 with a .910 save percentage and two shutouts. Analysis: Games 1-20: A very mediocre start to the season, but three OT and three shootout losses helped in the standings. Games 21-41: Even as possession and shooting improved, goaltending dip left Wings at break-even. Games 42-62: Goaltending rebounded, keeping otherwise average Wings in the playoff hunt. Games 63-82: Scoring burst, led by Nyquist and Tatar, lifted the Wings into the postseason. Key 2014 Additions: C Kevin Porter Key 2014 Subtractions: RW Daniel Alfredsson, C David Legwand, RW Mikael Samuelsson, RW Jordin Tootoo This Is Now: General manager Ken Holland didnt do much shopping over the summer. But if he has a healthy group this time around, the Red Wings should be competitive. Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Weiss are all expected to be healthy to start the year. The next generation of Red Wings regulars are coming on strong, with Gustav Nyquist (28 goals, 20 assists last season) and Tomas Tatar (19 goals, 20 asssists) up front and a blue line maturing with Danny DeKeyser and Brendan Smith.dddddddddddd You can have a wish list in the summer and a wish list in training camp, but really as a coach, whatever they give you, you get, Babcock told over the summer. If you start hoping and wishing for any more than that, thats just not realistic. That said, Babcock still knows where his allegiances lie with his veterans getting healthy and back into the lineup. We used to say in training camp, and Id say it every year, The tie goes to the veteran, Babcock said. Maybe the tie still goes to the veteran, but weve shown, and we did it last year, youre allowed to take guys jobs and the best players are going to play. Gone is Legwand, who signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Ottawa Senators. Alfredsson is also unrestricted and could return to the Red Wings if he overcomes the back issues that hampered him at the end of last season. Mantha can score in all manner of ways; from forty feet with a shot or from five feet around net with a deft touch in tight. He recognizes opportunity, moves to scoring position quickly and has a release that doesnt allow goaltenders to get themselves properly set. He is the type of scorer who needs just one opportunity to make good on it. Because of his scoring instincts he gets multiple opportunities over the course of the game and that is a boon to any team offence. Fantasy - Cullens Player to Watch - Tomas Tatar While the spotlight was brightest on Gustav Nyquist last season, Tatars development was also crucial to the Red Wings reaching the postseason. He was playing a little over 13 minutes per game for the first couple months of the season, but as injuries hit the Wings lineup, Tatar was handed more opportunities and he responded with 19 goals and 39 points in 73 games, giving him 47 points in 100 career NHL games. With more ice time, and perhaps the chance to play with highly-skilled veterans on the Wings roster, Tatar should continue to develop as an offensive contributor in Detroit.
